Biography: Vincent Lecours is an Assistant Professor of Marine Remote Sensing and Geospatial Analysis at the University of Florida, where he leads the Marine Geomatics Lab. Lecours holds a B.Sc. in Applied Geomatics (Université de Sherbrooke, Canada, 2011) and a Ph.D. in Geography (Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, 2016). Among other positions, Lecours worked as a geospatial analyst for the Québec National Police, a remote sensing analyst mapping deforestation in Peru, a land surveyor in West Africa, and a consultant for the Department of Fisheries & Oceans Canada. In 2018, Lecours was awarded the Starkey-Robinson Award from the Canadian Association of Geographers, recognizing the contribution of his research to understanding Canada’s marine geography. His research looks at improving the integration of spatial concepts like spatial scale and data quality into marine habitat mapping and geomorphometry workflows. Lecours is currently the Vice-President of the Florida Society of Geographers and the International Society for Geomorphometry.
