Focus Areas:
Degree Program: M.S.
Entered Program: Fall 2020
Expected Graduation: Spring 2025
Dissertation Topic: Tropical cyclones, flood mapping, socio-economic impacts of natural hazards
Research Statement: My research interests include natural hazards, social vulnerability, and disaster mitigation. During my Bachelor’s program at UF Geography, I used remotely sensed precipitation data to map the spatial distribution of rainfall in tropical cyclones and associated environmental conditions. Since beginning my Master’s program, I have shifted my focus to societal impacts of flood events. To complement the wealth of coursework I’ve completed, I volunteered in Hurricane disaster response operations and worked in floodplain management. My current research project uses satellite imagery to map flooding caused by tropical cyclones in Florida.
