Join Gator Nation on February 20th for Stand Up & Holler: Gator Nation Giving Day. Your contribution supports our students and department by funding annual awards, graduate student travel to conferences, and to bring external speakers to the department.
The Department of Geography is grateful for the support of its alumni and friends. Donations make a big impact to the Department as a whole and also to the lives of individual students. Your gift to the Department of Geography can take many shapes, and the information below may help you find the way you want to give. You can donate to a specific fund by clicking the “GIVE NOW” text under the description of each fund.
Geography General Fund – GIVE NOW
The Geography General Fund is a fund that provides support for the Geography Department as a whole, covering costs for annual awards, graduate student travel to conferences, and to bringing external speakers to the department. It is the only fund which can cover non-research related costs, which helps to meet the needs of the department. In the past 5 years the Geography General Fund has been used to:
- Help cover costs for Annual Awards Evening of Excellence, during which our graduate students and staff are recognized with awards for Excellence in Teaching, Service, and Outreach.
- Cover travel and accommodations for graduate students to attend the Florida Society of Geographers (FSG), and the American Association of Geographers conferences (AAG and SEDAAG).
- Bring external speakers to campus and chat with graduate students over a catered meal.
- Develop publication materials to advertise different programs in Geography.
The Geography General Fund is our only UF Giving Day fund. Two additional funds that positively benefit our programs are available.
Ralph V. Little Family Scholarship in Geography – GIVE NOW
This fund was established in 2007 by Ralph V. Little to support fellowships or assistantships for graduate students majoring in Geography in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who are United State of America citizens. Ralph graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in 1966.
Medical Geography Fund – GIVE NOW
This fund supports research in the Medical Geography in Global Health (MGGH) program. Medical geography, an important area of health research, applies concepts, methods, and techniques from geography to investigate health-related topics across the world, focusing on spatial aspects of human and animal (livestock and wildlife) disease and health intervention.
