Dissertation Topic: My main question is how human-environment interactions in agricultural frontiers of the Brazilian Amazon can be managed for this landscape to conserve ecosystems services in times of rapid climatic change events? I am interested to research how processes and patterns at multiple levels are affecting trajectories of land use and forest cover in sustainable production systems (diversified) compared to conventional business-as-usual agriculture systems (monocultures with use of petrochemicals).
Areas of interest: Land use change and land accumulation, Spatial Econometrics and Modeling, Political Ecology, Governance and stakeholder’s decision making.
Adviser: Dr. Robert Walker
