Research Statement: My research focuses on the intersection of social vulnerability, natural hazards, food systems, and migration. My goal is to deepen our understanding of how communities, particularly those in vulnerable settings, respond and adapt to climate-related hazards such as hurricanes, heat waves, and floods. I am particularly interested in the vulnerability of migrant farmworkers in building resilience, as well as the ways in which these communities and food systems are impacted by and adapt to environmental changes. Currently, my geographic focus is Haiti where I am interested in the farmers communities facing the consequences of climate change and socio-economic challenges, and Florida where I focus on the farmworkers.
