Summer Research Program

The GeoGator Summer Research Program saw 10 students conduct research with 8 different faculty mentors this past summer. The 2024 cohort presented their findings at our second annual GeoGator Summer Research Symposium on August 29th, 2024. Many of these students have continued to work in the department through the Fall semester, completing Honors Theses, presenting at conferences, and contributing to research publications.

General info about the program: The UF GeoGator Summer Research Program is a research opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in an active research project with a faculty member in the Geography department. The program provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, the chance to be involved with cutting edge research and lab environments, the opportunity to identify and develop career-related skills and abilities, and provide a chance to network with professionals. This program prepares students for future careers by gaining valuable and marketable experience and expands their knowledge beyond the classroom.
