Geography and geospatial science are not immune to the discrimination, subjugation, and silencing of minority voices. We recognize that it is not just our political leadership and law enforcement agencies that need to be reminded that Black Lives Matter.
The #UF Geography Department is committed to an inclusive academy where all can thrive. As an organization, as members of the scientific community, and as members of our broader communities — we can and must be a powerful force for change.
As part of the movement to #ShutDownSTEM this Wednesday, June 10, we will not be originating any content on social media. Instead, we will be amplifying minority voices and by retweeting and sharing posts from the STEM community using the #ShutDownSTEM hashtag.
