Expected Graduation: Spring 2027
Dissertation topic: Modelling the distributions of arbovirus vectors using machine learning and traditional regression approaches – mosquitoes in Haiti, ticks in the Republic of Georgia, and Culicoides in Florida
Research statement: Ian’s research explores the ecologies of medically relevant arthropods such as biting midges, mosquitoes and ticks, using geospatial modelling, machine learning approaches and publicly available covariate data. He also studies geographic patterns of corneal diseases and theoretical frameworks of both ecology and social vulnerability.
