Research Statement
My research advances near-term ecological forecasting by integrating multi-sensor satellite observations, climate modeling, and data assimilation to support rapid, decision-relevant environmental predictions. As extreme climate events intensify, a critical gap remains in translating Earth observation data into operational forecasting systems that can inform timely responses.

At the University of Florida, I work with Dr. David Keellings, whose expertise in climate modeling informs the integration of atmospheric dynamics, and Dr. Di Yang, whose work in remote sensing and GeoAI enables scalable, data-driven environmental analysis. This interdisciplinary environment allows me to bridge satellite observations with predictive modeling frameworks.

I develop iterative, data-assimilation–driven approaches that combine satellite datasets (MODIS, Landsat, VIIRS) with climate variables such as temperature and precipitation to generate short-term, spatially explicit ecological forecasts. By integrating decision-support visualizations, my work translates complex model outputs into actionable insights.

Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to operational ecological forecasting systems that enhance early warning capacity and support climate resilience in vulnerable regions.
