Focus Areas
Research Statement
I am an applied GIScientist whose research spans three connected domains. The first examines uncertainty in open and publicly accessible data, drawing on sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau and OpenStreetMap to map, assess, and mitigate the uncertainty that propagates through spatial models. The second is community-engaged scholarship, working with (not on) communities to bring geospatial tools and techniques to the needs and priorities those communities define for themselves. The third explores generative AI and artificial intelligence in geography education, adapting the classroom to a rapidly shifting technological landscape and preparing students to lead in it. Across all three, the throughline is making spatial data and methods more accurate, more equitable, and more useful.
