UF well represented at AAG

UF Geography was once again well represented at the Association of American Geographers Annual Meeting (AAG) as five faculty and 22 students attended this year’s meeting in Chicago, IL (April 21-25)!

“For me as a human geographer AAG is THE conference” says Ryan Good, PhD student. Ryan was joined by a number of geographers from different disciplines within the department presenting talks and posters ranging from hurricane rainfall and anthrax in wildlife to remote sensing and climate modelling. Maybe one of the most excited students was Johanna Engström who won AAG Water Resource Specialty Group’s Student Travel Award.

Despite the busy conference schedule with 70+ sessions running simultaneously, the UF crew found time to gather as a group to share experiences, catch up with alumni and welcome new students.

As we head back to Gainesville we are tired after the intense week but full of new ideas and we already look forward to next year’s AAG in San Francisco!
