Christian Kamrath named ORISE Fellow at the EPA

After graduating in May 2014 with a B.S. in Geography, Christian completed a summer internship on climate change communication with George Mason University and the National Park Service. He also volunteered at the local county emergency management office in Orlando. Recently, Christian accepted a position as an ORISE Fellow within the EPA, working with their Emergency Response Team within their Water Security Division under the Office of Water in Washington D.C. He is developing outreach strategies to aid in communicating to local water/wastewater utilities how to prepare for disasters such as hurricanes. Christian writes, “I must thank you for getting me to this point and instilling in me a geographer’s point of view which people are realizing is more and more valuable as our world’s problems become more and more complex.” Christian received a minor in Sustainability Studies and the Meteorology and Climatology Certificate, was President of our local chapter of the American Meteorological Society, and delivered on-air forecasts for WRUF-TV, WUFT-TV, and WUFT-FM radio. He was mentored in the University Scholars Program by Dr. Matyas and received valuable career advice from Dr. Mossa.
