EPI & Geography job talk

Dr. Wu will address drinking water challenges in Matlab, a rural area of Bangladesh. The community-based childhood diarrhea data, tubewell information, arsenic concentrations in groundwater and climate data are collected and integrated in a geographic information system (GIS) database. The spatial relationship between childhood diarrhea and tubewell water access, groundwater arsenic levels, as well as climate factors (temperature, rainfall, and extreme weather events) are statistically examined. The modification effects by population density, socioeconomic status (SES) and flood control are also considered. The results of the study may help people in rural Bangladesh to find optimal solutions for the water crisis.
